Question 1

What is the air volume capacity of the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System operates at 6000 CFM (cubic feet per minute) at 10 inches of water column pressure. This capacity is designed to handle load-point dust collection for both portable and stationary concrete batch plants of typical size.

Question 2

What motor is included with the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System, and how is it powered?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System is equipped with a 15 HP direct-drive motor. The system comes with a 480-volt power cord, so you'll need adequate 480V three-phase electrical service at your batch plant location. Direct drive means the motor connects directly to the fan with no gearbox, reducing maintenance needs and potential failure points.

Question 3

What are the filter specifications for the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System includes six (6) Gold Cone Dura Pleat filters, each rated at 1500 CFM capacity. These patented filters feature spunbond polyester media with a conical inner design that expands the usable filter surface area by approximately 30% compared to conventional pleated filters. The filters achieve 99.95% efficiency at removing particles as small as 0.5 micrometers (μm).

Question 4

How does the pulse-cleaning system work on the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System uses six solenoid valves controlled by a 6-channel electric timer. These valves release compressed air pulses (from a 12-gallon air tank) through the filters to shake off accumulated dust. This reverse-pulse technology cleans the filters automatically without requiring manual intervention or work stoppages. The system is electronically tied into your batching plant but includes a manual override for flexibility.

Question 5

What size is the dust collection hopper on the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System has a tapered hopper bottom bin for dust collection and disposal. The system includes a vibrator for daily cleanout, and a 6-inch butterfly valve on the bottom for controlled dust discharge. While an exact gallon capacity isn't specified, the hopper is designed for typical batch plant load-point dust volumes.

Question 6

Will the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System help me meet OSHA silica dust regulations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. OSHA's Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard (29 CFR 1926.1153) requires employers to limit worker exposure to no more than 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air, averaged over an 8-hour shift. The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System's 99.95% filtration efficiency at 0.5 μm particles makes it an effective engineering control for dust suppression at batch plant load points. However, the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System alone may not ensure compliance if workers are exposed to multiple dust sources—you must evaluate your entire operation against OSHA Table 1 requirements for your specific activities.

Question 7

Can the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System be used with both portable and stationary batch plants?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System is specifically designed to work with all types of stationary and portable concrete batch plants. Its skid-mounted design with integrated ladder, handrails, and foundation tiedowns makes the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System suitable for both temporary job sites and permanent installations.

Question 8

What happens to the collected dust in the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

Dust is captured by the filters in the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System and falls into the hopper bottom bin where it accumulates. You can then dispose of it responsibly or, in some cases, recycle it back into concrete production depending on your local regulations and the dust composition. The vibrator and 6-inch butterfly valve allow controlled, measured discharge of collected material.

Question 9

Does the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System require compressed air to operate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System includes a 12-gallon air tank and relies on compressed air at 90-100 PSI to operate the solenoid pulse-cleaning valves. You'll need either an on-site air compressor or air supply to keep the system functioning. The pulse-cleaning cycle requires dry, clean compressed air for optimal performance.

Question 10

How often do the filters need to be replaced on the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The Gold Cone Dura Pleat filters in the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System are designed to last longer than conventional filters due to their expanded media surface area and optimized cone design. However, replacement frequency depends on dust loading, ambient conditions, and how frequently the batch plant operates. As a general guideline, filters should be inspected regularly and replaced when they show signs of excessive clogging or when the system's pressure drop becomes unmanageable. The built-in automatic pulse-cleaning on the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System extends filter life significantly compared to manual-cleaning filters.

Question 11

Are the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System filters washable?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Gold Cone Dura Pleat filters in the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System use 100% spunbond polyester media, which is washable and reusable. Customers have reported filter lifespans of 5 years or longer with proper care. You can carefully wash the filters with water and allow them to dry completely before reinstalling. Do not pressure-wash or subject them to excessive force, as this can damage the pleat structure.

Question 12

What maintenance is required to keep the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System operating properly?

Accepted Answer

Regular maintenance for the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System includes: (1) daily or as-needed cleanout of the hopper using the vibrator and butterfly valve; (2) periodic inspection of filter condition and pressure drop; (3) verification that the 6-channel timer is functioning correctly; (4) ensuring the compressed air supply is clean and dry; (5) checking solenoid valves for proper operation; and (6) inspecting ductwork and connections for air leaks. Check with 52 North Construction Equipment for their specific maintenance schedule recommendations for the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System.

Question 13

How is the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System delivered and what does installation involve?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System arrives skid-mounted on a steel frame (referred to as the L skid) with integrated ladder, handrails, and foundation tiedowns for transport security. Standard features include all ducting hardware needed at the load point. The system also includes an enclosure frame approximately 6 feet wide by 11 feet long by 14 feet high, with curtains on the ends and 16-inch main ducting. Installation of the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System requires adequate 480V three-phase power, a compressed air supply, and proper foundation preparation with tiedown points for safety.

Question 14

Can the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System be relocated from one batch plant to another?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System is designed as a portable dust collection system. Its skid-mounted construction with tiedowns and integrated handling features makes it suitable for job-to-job relocation. However, moving the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System involves disconnecting the 480V power, compressed air lines, and ductwork connections. You should plan for professional relocation to avoid equipment damage and ensure safe re-installation at the new location.

Question 15

What is the electrical and compressed air infrastructure required for the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System?

Accepted Answer

The 52 North F6 Dust Collector System requires two main utilities: (1) Electrical: 480-volt, three-phase power service with adequate amperage for the 15 HP motor. Verify your batch plant's electrical capacity before purchase. (2) Compressed Air: Clean, dry compressed air at 90-100 PSI to operate the solenoid pulse valves. Most batch plants have an on-site air compressor; confirm yours is sized adequately. Both utilities must be available at the load point where the 52 North F6 Dust Collector System will be installed.
